Meet Your Chiropractor

I’m Dr Laura Jonker, chiropractor, business owner, and mother.

I love being able to help other people and thrive on being here to listen, and to respond with solutions through chiropractic and other bodywork treatments. My practice is here to offer real connection with people like you, and solve your unique pain concerns. It fuels me to be brought into people’s personal world of concerns and to witness their families grow.

Dr Laura Jonker

I’m a chiropractor in Duluth, MN. I studied Biology at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in undergrad (2003) then went on to study at Northwestern Health Sciences University for my Doctor of Chiropractic degree (2007). I completed certification through the Academy of Chiropractic Family Practice in advanced study of prenatal and pediatric chiropractic. After that, I had the pleasure of training with Deb McLaughlin CST, CPM and Adrienne Caldwell in body balancing techniques for pregnancy.

My patients call me “Dr Laura” which I love. The environment we’ve created at Jonker Chiropractic is respectful of everyone, and not formal. There’s space for everyone in the family, which I’m really passionate about.

I’ve completed training in recognizing tethered oral tissues and breastfeeding issues; studied pelvic floor related issues through BRAVA certification and training. Pursuing training and education in topics through the ICPA and other prenatal and pediatric related organizations is a value of mine, to continue to stay up to date with the latest research and methods for supporting my patients.

When I’m not chasing toddlers around the office, I enjoy an active lifestyle in this beautiful city of ours: hiking, paddleboarding, running, and gardening. My life partner, Jacob, is a classical guitarist and teacher of suzuki method. Our daughter, Ana, has a love of the outdoors, music and art.

I’ve always felt a pull towards helping families with preconception and pregnancy — long before I started Chiropractic school.

It started with my grandparent’s conception journey…

My grandparents struggled with infertility in the 1930s and 40s. Around the 11th year of their marriage my grandmother went to the chiropractor for back pain caused by farm and hospital kitchen work. After her back pain resolved they were able to conceive their first child. They went on to have two more. My grandmother told me this story with the conviction that something was put right in her body through chiropractic care.

Deeply inspired by how chiropractic care affected my family line, I started ICPA certification courses while I was also attending chiropractic school. I was able to work for a few different offices before the opportunity to share space in a birth center arose. I opened Jonker Chiropractic in 2013 when my own daughter was one year old.

Community continues to ignite my passion for best care.

Through the years I’ve been able to establish relationships with other professionals in the area. These relationships help me grow as a provider and a human. It also means I can refer care to other healers so that my patients can complete the spectrum of care within multiple modalities.

My referral network includes: excellent massage therapists, acupuncturists, craniosacral therapists, physical therapists, energy medicine practitioners, prenatal yoga instructors, midwives, doulas, obstetricians, family practice doctors, pediatric dentists, lactation consultants as well as other chiropractors.

Let’s schedule some time to address your wellness.
